Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939): No other artist has so decisively marked the beautiful face of the French Belle Epoque. After having created his first poster for the famous actress Sara Bernhardt the Czech artist enjoyed a meteoric career and was dominating the design of the turn of the century. In his paintings he stylizes pretty woman and charming plants to an ornament of timeless aesthetics.
