"Louis XIV the King at Versailles" tapestry
This tapestry is based on the famous set of twelve tapestries “Les Maisons royales” designed by Charles Le Brun (1619-1690) and woven from 1668 to 1711 by the Royal Manufacture of Gobelins. Allotted to the decoration of royal houses or used as diplomatic presents, all those tapestries were created to the glory of the king of France Louis XIV (1638-1715). They feature, in the foreground, the sovereign himself and evoke his castles, his entertainments and the pomp of the court. This tapestry pictures Louis XIV hunting in the grounds of the Versailles castle.
A certificate of authenticity is affixed on the back. Beyond a quality seal, it indicates the point of weaving, the title and the subject of the tapestry, but, also, registers every tapestry in a matchless craft heritage.
The Pansu’s weaving workshop has been established in 1878 by Jules Pansu. Settled in the city of Halluin, north of France, birthplace of the tapestry for over 600 years, the Pansu’s workshop has become the reference of the tapestry “Made in France”. A team of highly qualified designers and weavers, among whom three "Best craftsmen in France" awarded, restore for you the masterpieces and patterns which have decorated centuries of History of France and Europe. More than 125 years after its creation, the workshop continues to work on true Jacquard looms. They also keep creating their own brand-new models as well as readapting famous paintings, more modern, but always with the same traditional and unequalled know-how.
